The Thursday Prelims set the stage for Memorial advancing all three student-athletes in each of the preliminary heats: 100m (McGuire (featured image), Clark, and Bell), 200m (Hayhurst, McGuire, and Clark), and 100 hurdles (Kalna, Jung, and E. Moran).

Two final running events Thursday night added to a dominate day one. The 4 x 800 relay team of Wittmer, Felker, Brasseale and Morphew finished first with a 10: 05.2, over 36 seconds faster than the 2nd place Mater Dei tandem. Not to be outdone, all three 3200m Tigers scored with Vogel placing 1st (11:48.76), Schnautz 2nd (12:19.89) and Gries 4th (12:44.90).

Friday the 7 teams returned for the City Tournament finals and Memorial picked up with they left off with a deep pool of talent winning half of the events (80 points) including all 3 relays, and having at least one Tiger in the top 4 of all 16 events. Those 2nd-8th place finishes added up to 151 of the 231 team points.

Memorial’s best won the events, but the team won the day pushing the total score 108 points over the next best opponent by chasing the clock and chasing the tape. Here are a few examples:
