The Reitz Memorial Girls’ Track & Field team sent only four talented freshman student-athletes and one priceless manager (Caroline Cox) to the SIAC Freshman Meet Monday night, but still scored 89 points and finished 3rd out of 8 teams.
Four Tigers certainly aren’t enough to win the meet or even cover the 16 events, but apparently enough to make some noise as each Tiger scored in every event they ran. Below are the individual achievements and sometimes personal records (PRs) of the four Memorial Freshman:
100m – 1st Place – 13.76
200m – 2nd Place – 28.61
Long Jump – 2nd Place – 15′ 2″
800m – 3rd Place – 3:12.03 (PR)
1600m – 5th Place – 7:06.36
100m – 2nd Place – 14.03 (PR)
200m – 4th Place – 29.81
400m – 2nd Place – 1:07.21(PR)
100m Hurdles – 2nd Place – 18.48
300m Hurdles – 1st Place – 51.39 (PR)
High Jump – 3rd Place – 4′ 8″
The 4 Tigers finished the meet running the 4×400 Relay together to earn a 2nd place finish in 4:39.95. A bright future for an already talented team.
Come support the Track & Field programs next at the SIAC Tournament beginning at 5 pm on Thursday, May 2. Freshman distance star Jacqueline Brasseale will join classmates Holt and Weyer along with the rest of the varsity team as the Tigers defend their SIAC Championship title.
