Memorial Boys Track and Field Finishes 3rd place at the City Meet
The tigers finished 3rd with 92 points in a close race to the top. North finished 2nd with 92.5, and Central finished 1st with 119.
The tigers were led by our field events at the 2019 city meet. 53 points were scored in FIVE field events. GREAT JOB to the throw and jump squads.
Several races required a third and fourth efforts and your best finish for the tigers may have been the 4x800m relay Thursday night with Sean Thomas coming back to pass Central anchor to hold on to a third place finish.
Joey Russler in the 1600m run, with 110m remaining, passed and moved up from 10th to 6th place.
The tigers finished with TWO individual champions:
Bryant Stofleth – Pole Vault, with a new PR of 12’ 6”. – 1st place
Jacob Hirsh – Discus 141’ 7” – 1st place
Senior Michael Staley broke into the long jump finals for the first time for the tigers in 5 years with a jump of 18’ 9.5”
Several PR’s were set at the two day city meet finals. Those include the following:
Ross McNeill – 200m – 23.41 – 3rd place ***Nick Folz – 400m – 53.94 – 4th place
Lucas Hoffman – 45.40 *** Elias McCleary – 49.04
Sam Hodge 2:05.81 – 3rd place *** Sam Devault 2:08.85 – 8th place *** Andrew Golba 2:13.24
Dominic Norman – High Jump 5’ 8” – started his night competing in the HJ, anchoring the 4x100m relay to 4th place and then anchoring the 4x400m relay to 5th place. Busy night for a freshman.
Andrew Alvey – 3200m run – 10:49 – 5th place
